Man dragged by SUV in robbery

Two men were arrested Thursday after a man reported they robbed him of his gas money and dragged him down the road with their car.

One of the suspects, however, told police they met the man to rob him of his synthetic marijuana.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Allen County Police Department went to a subdivision near East Dupont Road and North Clinton Street where they found the victim.

He told police he called 23-year-old Timothy C. Harter for a ride, but when Harter arrived he had another person with him, and they robbed the victim of $320 he had on him.

The man told police he was pulled partly into Harter’s SUV and dragged down the road.

Police quickly arrested Harter and after an extensive search found the other man, later identified as 33-year-old Tyquan D. Sewell, according to a report.

Harter gave a different account of the events to police, telling them he and Sewell went to meet the victim so they could rob him of his synthetic marijuana.

He said the victim tried to get in the SUV after the men robbed him.

Harter, of the 2700 block of Washington Center Road, and Sewell, of the 5100 block of Lillie Street, both face preliminary charges of robbery resulting in injury, criminal recklessness and battery resulting in bodily injury.

They were both held Friday evening at the Allen County Lockup in lieu of $11,500 bail.
