Drug-linked SUV shooting rattles Wildwood Avenue

Fort Wayne police investigated a shooting early Thursday that they described as a drug deal gone bad.

A man was shot in the 400 block of East Wildwood Avenue shortly before 1:45 a.m., according to a police report.

It said the victim was walking toward his sport utility vehicle when shots rang out and struck him, the SUV and a nearby car.

Police said there were a knotted plastic bag on the ground and more inside the SUV that appeared to be packaged the way marijuana and Spice, synthetic marijuana, are normally sold.

The SUV had what looked like bullet holes in the hood and the nearby car had a flat tire, possibly from gunfire, the report said. The name of the victim and his condition were not available.
