Area man charged in meth distribution

A Kendallville man was charged Wednesday in what authorities said was his role in the distribution of methamphetamine.

James R. Cougill, 49, faces charges of methamphetamine possession with intent to deliver, methamphetamine possession and receiving stolen property, all felonies.

Cougill’s ordeal began April 3 when a traffic stop led to a search of Cougill’s home on Oak Crest Drive in Kendallville, where police said they found nearly a quarter-pound of crystal meth, along with digital scales, ledgers, money, safes, cellphones and two stolen guns.

Cougill was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
