Five Chicago area men were arrested Wednesday on drug and other charges in Angola after police said they were alerted to suspicious activity.
Angola police were called to Farmers State Bank at 3 p.m. When they arrived, officers saw a white sport utility vehicle in the nearby Burger King parking lot. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle used in a credit card fraud on April 4, police said.
As officers approached the vehicle, they saw four men inside and smelled drugs. Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana and cocaine, police said.
Officers then learned that one of the men in the vehicle was in Farmers State Bank using altered credit cards.
Five men were arrested on charges of cocaine possession, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession and fraud to a financial institution or possession of fraudulent credit cards, police said.
Arrested were: Gregory Archer, 58; Michael Parker, 57; Malcom Parker, 23; Irving Fort, 58; and Daryl Murry Jr., 31. All have Chicago area addresses, police said.
