Early morning shooting probed

Fort Wayne police are looking into a shooting early Thursday that is being investigated as a drug deal gone bad.A man was shot in the 400 block of East Wildwood Avenue shortly before 1:45 a.m., according to a supplemental police report.

It said the victim was walking toward his black 1997 Ford Expedition when shots rang out, striking him, the SUV and possibly a nearby car.

Police said there was a knotted plastic bag on the ground and more inside the SUV that appeared to be packaged the way marijuana and Spice are normally sold. The SUV had what looked like bullet holes in the hood and the Infinity nearby had a flat tire. the report said.

The name of the victim and his condition were not immediately available.
