TinCaps snap 3-game losing streak

This time, the comeback came all the way back.

A day after rallying from three runs down only to lose in 12 innings, the TinCaps made the rally stick Wednesday, coming from two runs adrift in the eighth to beat Kane County 7-4 in 10 innings in Geneva, Ill.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the TinCaps (2-4), and happened thanks to the team’s first two home runs of the year and an error by Kane County (3-3) that opened the door to a three-run TinCaps 10th.

Jose Carlos Urena swatted the first round-tripper, a two-run shot in the second, but it was Dane Phillips’ solo drive with one out in the ninth that tied the game 4-4 and sent it into extra innings for the second straight day. Then, in the 10th, a dropped fly ball by Kane County centerfielder Jacob Hannemann put Franmil Reyes aboard with one out, and Fernandez Perez singled to left to score him from second for the go-ahead run.

A hit batsman and a two-run double by Phillips scored two more runs, and Nick Mutz retired the side in the bottom half to seal it.
