Business owner killed in shooting is identified

FORT WAYNE – The owner of a tobacco store gunned down during a robbery attempt Monday morning has been identified.

The death of Antonio Lopez Nino, 44, has been ruled a homicide by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. His death is the second homicide in the city so far this year, with a total of three in Allen County for 2014.

Fort Wayne police officers were called to The Smoke House Tobacco Outlet, 2217 Lafayette St., about 9:30 a.m. They found Nino in critical condition, according to police.

Anyone with information about the robber is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 436-7867 or the Fort Wayne Detective Bureau at 427-1201.
