PORTER – Authorities said Sunday that the body of a woman has been found in a northwestern Indiana lake near where they conducted a January search for a missing Michigan doctor.
Indiana State Police said a fisherman on Lake Charles in the town of Porter reported something suspicious Sunday morning. They said divers helped recover a female body dressed in dark clothing.
Police said an autopsy will be conducted this week to identify the body.
Indiana State Police, the FBI and Michigan police searched the same lake on Jan. 23 for Dr. Teleka Patrick of Kalamazoo, Mich., but didn’t find evidence related to her disappearance.
Plainfield boy falls, dies at Fla. condo
Florida authorities said a 13-year-old boy from Indiana fell from a 15th-story balcony to his death while vacationing with his family.
A Panama City Beach Police Department news release said Zachary Dickman of Plainfield died Saturday.
Police said the boy was checking out of a condominium tower with his family when he realized he’d left his phone in their room on the 15th floor.
He went back to look for it but somehow fell to the pool deck below.
Hot-air balloon hits power lines
Seven people escaped serious injury when the hot-air balloon carrying them crashed into power lines in central Indiana.
The Noblesville Fire Department said two of the passengers suffered minor injuries but refused treatment after the crash Saturday evening about 20 miles north of Indianapolis.
Investigators said it appears the balloon was descending when it struck the power lines, then fell into an open field.
The crash left areas of Noblesville without electricity for about an hour.
The balloon was owned by Midwest Balloon Rides of Fishers.
