In Bluffton, police chief retires

Bluffton’s police chief announced Friday she will retire at the beginning of June.

Tammy Schaffer is a 25-year veteran of the Bluffton Police Department and was appointed chief in 2003.

Her retirement will be effective June 2.

As part of the upcoming change in command staff, Detective Kyle Randall will be promoted to deputy chief and Nathan Huss, the current deputy chief, will become chief.
