Skeptical robber starts shooting over money

A man was shot four times and suffered a shattered arm after he was forced into his car at gunpoint late Wednesday in northwest Fort Wayne.

When police responded to a call in the 600 block of Florence Avenue, just south of State Street, they found shattered glass and blood on the road and could not tell how many victims there were.

As officers searched the home, the shooting victim arrived at a nearby hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the police report.

Hospital staff told police the man was shot once in his left shin, twice in his left arm and was grazed on his hip by a fourth bullet.

The shooting victim told police he was in his SUV when a man approached him with a gun drawn and got in the vehicle’s back seat.

The victim told police he gave the man all the money he had, but the man didn’t believe him and started shooting.

Meanwhile, police discovered a large amount of blood on the porch of a home in the 500 block of Greenlawn Avenue, which turned out to be the victim’s home, three blocks south of the Florence Avenue location.

Police did not find any other victims in the home, but they did discover several plastic bags and a large paper bag with what appeared to be marijuana inside it, according to the report.
