Drugs and a stolen handgun found during a recent traffic stop netted a Fort Wayne man several felony charges, including serious violent felon in possession of a handgun.
Patrick M. Ormsby, 26, of the 800 block of Spring Street, faces charges of possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon, possession of a synthetic drug and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, according to documents filed Thursday in Allen Superior Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, police stopped a car Ormsby was driving, and when officers searched him, they found psychedelic mushrooms, synthetic marijuana and prescription pain pills for which Ormsby did not have a prescription.
Ormsby admitted to police that the drugs were his, according to the report.
When police opened the trunk access from the back seat of the car, they found a loaded .40-caliber handgun that was reported stolen in January.
He was being held Thursday night at the Allen County Jail on $15,750 bond.
According to Allen County court records, Ormsby pleaded guilty in 2009 to dealing cocaine or a narcotic drug and was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction for 10 years with four suspended and two on probation.
