Heavy rains lead to high-water rescues

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana conservation officers say they have rescued at least eight people following heavy rains across the state.

Officers said they rescued two sisters, ages 88 and 95, after one of them drove around a barricade and the vehicle became stalled on flooded Indiana 26 near Hartford City on Thursday. The women were treated for mild hypothermia.

Officers also made two rescues involving children on Wednesday night:

WTHR-TV reports emergency crews used a boat to ferry a woman from her Westfield home after it was surrounded by flood waters.
