  • Ewing Street section to close
    Ewing Street will be closed between Washington and Jefferson boulevards from Thursday through Oct. 31, the city of Fort Wayne said today.
  • Witmer Road work postponed
    Work scheduled for Witmer Road on Thursday between Page Road and Country Shoal Lane has been postponed, the Allen County Highway Department said.
  • Coats' staffer to meet constituents
    A member of the staff of Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., will meet constituents in Warsaw, Huntington and Bluffton. The staff member will be available from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Flood warnings issued

FORT WAYNE -- Flood warnings have been issued for northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio rivers.

  • A flood warning has been issued for the St. Marys River at the Muldoon Bridge, south of Fort Wayne, beginning late Thursday. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Friday and crest near 18.4 feet Saturday. Flood stage is 14.0 feet. At 18.0 feet, some city streets may flood and evacuations could become necessary, the weather service said.
  • The St. Mary's River near Decatur is expected to rise above flood stage on Friday morning, cresting near 20.5 by Sunday morning. Flood stage is 17 feet. Moderate flooding is forecast. The warning includes areas of Allen, Adams and Van Wert counties.
  • A flood warning has been issued for the Maumee River in Fort Wayne, beginning late Thursday. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Friday and crest near 22.3 feet about 2 a.m. Saturday. Flood stage is 17.0 feet. In the past, Riverhaven homes have flooded at 22.0 feet.
  • A flood warning has been issued for the St. Joseph River near the St. Joe River in Fort Wayne, beginning late Thursday and ending Tuesday afternoon. The river is expected to rise above flood stage Friday morning and crest near 13.9 feet about 2 a.m. Saturday. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. Minor flooding is forecast.
  • A flood warning has been issued for the St. Joseph River above Newville, beginning Friday morning. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Friday and crest near 14.6 feet about 8 a.m. Monday. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. Moderate flooding is forecast.
  • The Little River above Huntington was expected to rise above flood stage Thursday afternoon and crest near 20.1 feet about 8 a.m. Friday. Flood stage is 15 feet. The weather service said anything above 19 feet will close roads and bridges in the area, and that evacuations are likely.

The weather service also issued a flood warning for the following rivers:

  • Salamonie River below Warren, affecting Blackford, Huntington, Jay, Wabash and Wells counties.
  • Tiffin River near Stryker, affecting Defiance, Fulton and Williams counties.
