Pizza delivery driver reports holdup

A pizza delivery driver was robbed Monday night on Fort Wayne’s south side.

Fort Wayne police received a call from a delivery driver for Papa John’s who said she was robbed about 30 minutes earlier in the parking lot of a gas station at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and West Paulding Road, according to a police report.

The driver told police she stopped to get gas just before the robbery occurred.

The robber approached her with his hands in his pockets and appeared to have something “like a gun” in his pocket.

He pointed it at her and demanded her money, according to the report.

The man then ran north on Buell Drive with the money, all of which belonged to Papa John’s, according to the driver.

Despite the ordeal, she did not report the robbery to police until about 30 minutes later after she phoned her supervisor and was told to call police. The driver said she was too rattled by the robbery to call police but continued with her shift.

She described the robber as around 5 feet 9 inches tall, dark skinned, in his 20s or 30s and wearing a maroon zip-up hoodie, black shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Police checked the security system at the gas station, but no cameras were pointed in the direction of the robbery.
