CBS News says an editor made an audio error in dubbing the sound of a loud traditional car engine over footage of the much quieter Tesla electric car in a 60 Minutes story that aired Sunday.
Spokesman Kevin Tedesco said Tuesday the loud car audio has been edited out of the online version of the story on Tesla founder Elon Musk. Scott Pelley reported the story, and CBS said he wasn’t aware of the added audio ahead of time.
The revving sound, as opposed to the much quieter noise of a Tesla, was noticed by the auto enthusiast website Jalopnik.com.
It’s been a rough year at television’s most popular newsmagazine, with correspondent Lara Logan still on leave after an internal CBS report questioned her reporting and objectivity on a story about an attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. Critics also questioned the show’s reporting on stories involving the National Security Agency and Amazon.
Rowling to write movie trilogy
When J.K. Rowling revealed plans for a Harry Potter spinoff film adapted from her Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, fans rejoiced at the idea of returning to the wizarding world the author rendered in such detail in her worldwide best-sellers about the Boy Who Lived.
Turns out, there will be more than just one movie. Warner Bros. has announced its intention to release a planned trilogy of films based on Fantastic Beasts, with all three screenplays written by Rowling herself.
Originally published in 2001, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them arrived as a 42-page textbook of sorts, chronicling the adventures of its fictional author, who studies magical creatures.
Richie’s Web series spawns VH1 show
Nicole Richie’s Twitter feed has launched her return to television.
The 32-year-old former reality TV star-turned-designer, who is also an author and actress, is heading to VH1.
#CandidlyNicole is based on her popular AOL Web series, which was adapted from her Twitter feed, made up of her musings about everything from parenting to pop culture to random observations.
The VH1 version will feature all-new content in eight half-hour episodes premiering July 17.
‘Dead’ finale ratings short of premiere
Sunday night’s Season 4 finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead walked away with big ratings, but not quite big enough for a series record.
The episode averaged 15.7 million viewers total, up 27 percent from the last episode of the third season, according to Nielsen.
Still, it failed to surpass the season premiere in October, which delivered a whopping 16.1 million viewers.
