A man was injured inside a Fort Wayne bar early Sunday when a group of what witnesses identified as known gang members went into the tavern looking for a fight.
According to police reports, two men went into Peanuts, 5727 St. Joe Road, and were playing pool and drinking. When they went outside to smoke, they saw a group of about 15 men walk in. As the men walked in, one said, “any (epithet) want it, come inside.”
The two men followed the group inside, where they had been playing pool. When they got inside, one of the larger group came at them to fight. At one point, someone in the larger group pulled out a gun, pointed it at the victim and said he would kill him, reports said.
Witnesses said someone yelled “PAC,” a local gang name, and the victim said he knew he was shot. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition with gunshots to the hand, the foot, the hip and numerous injuries from having been kicked, according to police reports.
Members of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Gang Unit and other officers went to a house in the 5100 block of Lillie Street, a possible address for some of the people identified as suspects.
A few of the people – including Jawaun Woodson and Sharon Wells – were arrested on outstanding warrants, according to police reports.
