Charges filed in West Central home-invasion robbery

A 40-year-old man has been charged with burglary causing injury in a home-invasion robbery last week in the West Central Neighborhood.

According to court documents, Lewis J. Jones, who has eight additional aliases, kicked in the door to a duplex in the 1200 block of Swinney Avenue.

When he got inside, he pointed a gun at a woman and demanded to know where Lenny Underwood was.

When Underwood came out of the back room, Jones demanded drugs and cash. He took Underwood’s rent money and told the woman to tie him up, court documents said.

He then demanded to know where the gun was. Underwood said it was behind a fish tank.

Also behind a fish tank was a boy, whom Jones then ordered to the floor and also had him tied up. Jones told them all not to get up or look up or he would kill them. He then fled the apartment, according to court documents.

During the robbery, Underwood was hit on the back of the head with Jones’ pistol, according to court documents.

Jones was arrested almost immediately by officers responding, according to court documents.

Jones is charged with burglary, two counts of robbery, three counts of criminal confinement, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, carrying a handgun without a license and battery.
