Pedestrian struck, killed on Coliseum Boulevard

A person walking across Coliseum Boulevard at Lake Avenue was struck and killed about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The pedestrian was reportedly walking eastbound, attempting to cross Coliseum Boulevard south of Lake Avenue, when he walked into the path of a southbound vehicle and was struck. The person then attempted to stand up, at which point he was hit by a second car, police said.

When officers arrived on the scene, the victim was unconscious and unresponsive in the road and was declared dead when paramedics arrived, according to police.

The drivers of both cars were on scene when officers arrived and were interviewed, along with other witnesses. The victim’s identity has not been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
