Fire damages east-side home

Firefighters were called to the 1500 block of Kitch Street about 12:10 a.m. Sunday and found fire blowing out windows and coming from the roof of a one-story home, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Fire had spread from the bedroom to surrounding rooms and attics, and caused a power line to fall on a chain-link fence, the fire department said.

Crews were able to get the blaze under control in about 25 minutes. There was nobody home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
