Verbatim: 4 escape farm house fire

A report received Friday morning from the Angola Fire Department:

Angola and Metz Fire Depts. were dispatched to a report of a residence fire at 9065 E Metz Rd.

First fire units on the scene found a 2 story farm house fully engulfed in fire with power lines down and arcing on a vehicle setting in the drive way causing the vehicle also to catch fire.

Fire units attacked the residence fire defensively from the outside due to the amount of fire. The fire was intensified by the wind making firefighting operations difficult.

The residence had smoke detectors but they didn’t activate.

There were four occupants (Jason Holloway residence) in the residence at the time of the fire and all were able to escape without injuries.

The occupants of the residence lost all their belonging in the fire along with their car seats that paramedics went to a local store and purchased a new car seat.

Units assisting at the scene were Florence Twp. Fire, Northwest Twp. Fire, Hamilton Fire, Fremont Fire Hudson Fire Steuben Twp. Fire, Steuben County EMS, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police,
