‘Sherlock’ actor to be Hamlet

Benedict Cumberbatch is going from Sherlock to Shakespeare.

London’s Barbican Centre said Wednesday he will play Hamlet at the venue next year.

The Lyndsey Turner-directed production of “Hamlet” will run from August to October 2015. Cumberbatch has gained fans around the world for his role in the BBC TV drama “Sherlock.”

Music festival set

Eminem and Outkast will headline this year’s Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.

Festival founder Perry Farrell announced the lineup of more than 130 acts Wednesday. Lorde, Kings of Leon, the Arctic Monkeys and Calvin Harris will also play the festival Aug. 1 to 3. This year marks Lollapalooza’s 10th anniversary in Chicago’s Grant Park.

Paltrow, Martin split

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, one of Hollywood’s highest-profile couples, are separating after more than a decade of marriage, according to a message posted on the “Iron Man” actress’s blog Tuesday.

Paltrow, 41, and Martin, 37, were married in 2003. The actress and the musician have two children: daughter Apple, 9, and son Moses, 7.

Unsafe speed cited

Crash investigators have determined that the Porsche carrying “Fast & Furious” star Paul Walker was traveling up to 94 miles per hour when it went out of control on a California street and smashed into a light pole, killing the actor and his friend.

According to a crash reconstruction report released Tuesday, it was unsafe speed – not mechanical problems – that caused the crash.
