Homestead falls in 4A semistate

LAFAYETTE – Homestead lost to Lake Central 79-57 in a Class 4A boys basketball semistate Saturday at Lafayette Jeff.

The Spartans finish the season 20-8, while the Indians (22-3) are headed to the state finals next weekend at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Caleb Swanigan led Homestead with 22 points and 13 rebounds, Joe Ault had 12 points and Tahj Curry added 11.

For Lake Central, Joe Bannister had 21 points, Tye Wilburn 15, Tyler Wideman 14 and Tyler Ross 13 and 12 rebounds.

It was the first semistate appearance in school history for the Spartans, and the second for the Indians.
