2 Fort Wayne standoffs end peacefully

Fort Wayne police were sent to two unrelated barricade situations Friday morning, each ending peacefully.

Police said officers attempted to serve a felony warrant on 24-year-old Larry Hayden Jr. about 2:47 a.m. at a residence in the 2500 block of Thompson Avenue.

Officers with the Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team were called to the neighborhood west of Broadway, and police used tear gas after several hours of trying to make contact were not successful. Police said he surrendered afterward.

A little after 7:45 a.m., officers were sent to Dicke Road, north of Aboite Center Road, about a teenager who was threatening suicide, according to a statement issued by the Fort Wayne Police Department.

It said he had a knife.

After several hours of talking with the Crisis Response Team, the teen was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
