The Allen County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who is suspected of stealing scratch-off lottery tickets.

The man went into the Mac Food Mart 12635 Coldwater Road several times during the evening March 4, taking tickets when the attendant walked away from the counter, according to a statement issued Thursday by the sheriff's department.

He was described as being in his 20s, 5-foot-5 with short brown, thinning hair and a slender build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white drawstrings and blue jeans, the sheriff's department said. He left in a red 1998-2002 Ford Escort with a sunroof.

Anyone who can identify the man is asked to call Detective Williams at 449-7443.
