New site for sharing Hoosier stories launches

– Hoosiers can swap stories about Indiana on a new website built to bring current and former residents together for the state’s upcoming bicentennial.

The Indiana Bicentennial Commission launched the site Monday to get residents talking about the perks of living in the state. The commission is tasked with organizing celebrations for Indiana’s 200th birthday in 2016.

Gov. Mike Pence says some of his favorite places in Indiana include Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor in Columbus and the Indiana State Fairgrounds’ Pepsi Coliseum, where he went on his first date with his wife, Karen.

Prompts include “What does it mean to you to be a Hoosier?” and “What makes you proud about Indiana?” Selected stories will be published on the commission’s website at indiana2016.org.
