A man accused of trying to buy a BMW with a $15,800 check from a closed bank account now faces felony charges.
William A. Johnson, 52, entered Bart’s Car Store in Fort Wayne on Oct. 19 and bought a black 2006 BMW 530i.
He paid for the vehicle with a starter check from Wells Fargo Bank written for $15,800. The check was later returned to Bart’s because the account was closed.
Johnson, of New Haven, was charged Friday with two counts of felony check deception. He was being held without bail.
