House fire damages kitchen on DeWald

Fire damaged a home in the 700 block of West DeWald Street west of Fairfield Avenue late Friday, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Fire crews were called to the residence about 11:50 p.m. and found smoke and fire in the rear of the home. Crews extinguished the blaze in the kitchen in eight minutes, according to the spokesman.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. The cause of the fire was ruled to be accidental.
