  • Meijer agrees to pay $2 million civil penalty
    The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Meijer, Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., has agreed to pay a $2 million civil penalty for distributing recalled consumer products.
  • Wawaka railroad crossing closed
    The railroad crossing on Noble County Road 300 West in Wawaka is closed until Friday, according to Noble County Emergency Management. A reason wasn’t given for the closure.
  • Coats staffer in Geneva on Friday
    A member of the staff for Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., will visit Geneva in Adams County on Friday to meet with res­idents and help people ex­per­iencing problems with federal agencies.

Cancellations and delays for Thursday, March 13

Allen County

  • Fort Wayne Community Schools and Northwest Allen County Schools will be on a two-hour delay on Thursday, March 13.
Noble County

  • East Noble Schools will be on a two-hour delay Thursday.
Steuben, LaGrange counties

  • Steuben County MSD, Hamilton and Prairie Heights schools are on a two-hour delay Thursday.
  • Fremont schools now under three-hour delay. The schools announced that bus route No. 3 is not running.
Paulding County, Ohio

  • The Level 2 road advisory has been canceled. Drivers are urged to use caution because many roads are covered with snow and might be slippery, particularly on curves and at intersections.
