Get Green, St. Pat’s events to close downtown streets

FORT WAYNE – Two events related to St. Patrick’s Day are scheduled to close two downtown streets on two different days.

The Wells Street Bridge over the St. Marys River will be closed all day Saturday and open Sunday.

This is for the annual Fort Wayne Professional Firefighter’s Get Green event, according to a statement issued Thursday by the Fort Wayne Traffic Engineering Department.

The official detour will use Superior Street, Harrison Street and Fourth Street.

There will also be some restrictions along Calhoun, Main, Ewing and Superior streets between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Wayne Street will be closed Monday between Harrison Street and Calhoun Street for an annual St. Patrick’s Day event in downtown Fort Wayne and will run throughout the day, the department said.

There will not be a marked detour. Drivers are encouraged to use Jefferson Boulevard.
