Coliseum closures start Wednesday

FORT WAYNE - Lane closures planned for Coliseum Boulevard have been pushed back to Wednesday.

Indiana Department of Transportation officials announced last week that lane closures on and around the bridge over the St. Joseph River would begin Monday, but those have been modified.

Starting Wednesday and lasting through most of the month, the inside, eastbound lane of Indiana 930/Coliseum Boulevard will be closed as crews work on the bridge. Crews will construct a temporary bridge.

Drivers also need to watch for crews in the westbound lanes doing striping work to prepare for the next phase of the project.

The work is part of a project to improve the bridge deck and add travel lanes between Parnell and Crescent avenues, as well as a left-turn lane from eastbound Coliseum into IPFW.

The $6.1 million project is scheduled to be complete by November, weather permitting.
