Red Claws snap Mad Ants’ streak

Ron Howard and Will Frisby combined for 49 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Mad Ants lost 131-106 at Maine on Sunday afternoon.

It snapped a three-game winning streak for the Mad Ants (24-15).

Howard had 26 points – he was 11 of 22 from the field – and seven rebounds.

Frisby had a season-best 23 points and six rebounds.

Memphis Grizzlies prospect Jamaal Franklin added 19 points for the Mad Ants, who never led in front of 2,503 fans at the Portland Expo Building.

Maine (17-22) scored the first eight points of the game and led 29-13 with 4:48 remaining in the first quarter. Fort Wayne never got within nine points after that.

Tyshawn Taylor led the Red Claws with 33 points on 15-of-20 shooting and he had 15 rebounds.

Fort Wayne won 113-104 at Maine on Thursday.

Rookie Frank Gaines, a former star at IPFW, had 22 points for Maine.
