Coliseum bridge work delayed

The Johnny Appleseed Bridge project scheduled to start today on Coliseum Boulevard now will start Wednesday, the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced.

The inside eastbound lane of Coliseum Boulevard will be restricted as crews work on the bridge, INDOT said in a statement.

All restrictions will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews construct a temporary bridge, the statement said. The work is expected to be done by late March, weather permitting.

INDOT said the temporary bridge is part of a larger project to improve the bridge deck and to add travel lanes, creating a continuous three-lane highway in each direction between Parnell and Crescent avenues.

That project is set to be completed by late November, weather permitting, the statement said.
