Game On Dude wins 3rd Santa Anita Handicap

ARCADIA, Calif. — Game On Dude led all the way to win the $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap by 1¾ lengths, becoming the first three-time champion in the race's 77-year history.

Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Game On Dude ran 1¼ miles in 1:58.17 on Saturday. He was the 7-2 third choice in the wagering, behind 6-5 favorite Mucho Macho Man and 3-2 second choice Will Take Charge.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Game On Dude is co-owned by retired Yankees and Dodgers manager Joe Torre. The 7-year-old gelding paid $9.60, $3.60 and $3.60.

Will Take Charge returned $3 and $2.60. Blingo was another eight lengths back in third and paid $5.60 to show. Mucho Macho Man faded to fourth.

Game On Dude also won the Big 'Cap in 2011 and last year.
