Man in crtical condition after being struck by vehicle

A man was in critical condition late Friday after being struck while walking on Meyer Road, police said.

Police were called at 8:35 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck and found a man lying unresponsive on Meyer Road north of New Haven Avenue.

Police determined he had been struck by a Nissan Pathfinder. The driver of the vehicle told police he never saw the victim until he was struck. A witness told police the pedestrian was wearing all-dark clothing and was extremely hard to see.

Police determined the victim was also wearing head phones. His name was not released. He was taken to a hospital where doctors determined his condition to be critical.
