4 escape upper-bedroom blaze on south side

A fire damaged a home on Fort Wayne’s south side Thursday night, forcing two adults and two children to evacuate.

Firefighters were called to the two-story home at 802 Drexel Ave. at 6:45 p.m. and found heavy flames ventilating through a couple of bedroom windows.

Crews contained the fire to the two bedrooms on the second floor – one of the bedrooms was the fire’s origin – and had the blaze under control in 10 minutes.

No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
