Police urge caution at school crossings

Because Fort Wayne Community Schools are letting out children an hour later than normal to make up for school days, the police department is urging drivers to be extra careful.

Those who might not normally encounter school crossing guards have not all been stopping when required to do so, according to a statement issued Friday by officer Michael Joyner, a spokesman for the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The district dismissal time will remain delayed by one hour through April 11.
