Man, 25, accused of soliciting girl online

A 25-year-old Kendallville man is accused of trying to persuade a 15-year-old girl to have sex with him.

Noble County prosecutors formally charged Jay. J. King, of the 300 block of Silver Street in Kendallville, with one count of child solicitation Tuesday.

According to investigators, King used his Facebook page to solicit the girl to have sex with him between June and early August of last year.

A relative of the girl became concerned and contacted police, according to prosecutors.

Law enforcement officials reviewed cellphone records and Facebook account information in compiling a case against King.

Officials do not suspect the girl was physically harmed, according to a news release.

King was arrested Tuesday and is scheduled to make a court appearance today.
