2 arrested in Toll Road drug bust

Two Elkhart men were arrested on the Indiana Toll Road in Steuben County on Tuesday afternoon on drug charges and arrest warrants from Michigan and Florida, state police said today.

A trooper stopped a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup truck going east about 1 p.m. and determined that the driver, 38-year-old Anthony S. Knight, had no form of identification and that his driving privileges were suspended, according to a statement issued by the state police.

There were 11 felony arrest warrants issued for Knight out of Cass County, Mich., state police said. Five were drug-related and six were weapons-related charges, according to the statement.

Knight’s passenger, 38-year-old Rod A. Riege, has ties to the Devil’s Disciples, state police said, and he had a felony arrest warrant issued for him out of Marion County, Fla. The warrant alleged aggravated stalking with a credible threat, state police said.

He had hydrocodone pills and a pill crusher when the pickup was stopped Tuesday, state police said. The trooper also reported that a small bag found in the truck contained old identification for Riege and a small bag of meth.

Knight was arrested on a charge of driving while suspended and on the Michigan warrants. Riege was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, reckless possession of paraphernalia and the warrant out of Florida.
