Brenton Scott was a star basketball player for Northrop and was redshirted this season with Indiana State.

Former Northrop star arrested

Brenton Scott is on Indiana State basketball team

Former Northrop basketball star Brenton Scott, who is on the Indiana State team, was arrested Saturday on a multitude of charges, according to the Tribune-Star.

According to the newspaper, the 19-year-old Scott was booked for operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana/hash, possession of paraphernalia and false reporting/informing.

He has been suspended by the team indefinitely.

Scott, a freshman, has not played this season because he was red-shirted.

The Sycamores, who are 21-9, are second in the Missouri Valley Conference to undefeated Wichita State.

Scott was a three-time All-SAC selection.

According to WANE-TV, Scott was pulled over by a Vigo County Sherrif's deputy after failing to signal a lane change and he identified himself as his twin brother, Bryson Scott, who plays basketball for Purdue. The deputy noticed an odor of burnt marijuana, WANE reported, adding that Brenton Scott's license had been suspended for a previous infraction.

There were two other Indiana State players in the car – Alex Etherington and Devonte Brown – but they were not charged.
