Crash at tracks injures 2

Two people were injured Monday night in a crash southeast of Auburn.

A pickup truck driven by Brent A. Marti, 45, of St. Joe, was going north on DeKalb County Road 35 about 10:20 p.m. when it struck a Toyota Camry waiting behind a pickup at a train crossing in the 5200 block, according to a statement issued by the county sheriff's department.

The driver of the car, Sheryl K. Peitzman, 61, of Auburn, had a cut on the head, the sheriff's department said. She and Marti were taken to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Peitzman was later listed in fair condition at Parkview Hospital.

There was no information indicating that the third driver in the wreck was injured.

The Auburn Police Department, Jackson Township Fire Department and DeKalb EMS assisted the sheriff's department.
