On Interstate 469 between Maplecrest Road and Indiana 37, Indiana State Police investigated a five-vehicle crash just after 8 a.m. blamed on icy roads and whiteout conditions.

For a few hours, motorists were urged to find a detour, but the road reopened to normal traffic by late morning, according to the state police.

In Noble County, U.S. 33 south of Ligonier was closed much of the day after a morning crash snapped a pair of utility poles.
