IPFW women in 4th at Summit League Indoor Championships

The IPFW women's track and field team accumulated 20 points Friday and is in fourth place after the first day of the Summit League Indoor Championships at the Gates Center.

Snider graduate Kayla Zink earned a second-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 58 feet, 1.75 inches. Columbia City alum Kaeleigh Porter finished fifth with 53-11.25. Zink and Porter will compete in the shot put starting at noon today.

Angola graduate Brittany Beard finished seventh in the 800-meter run preliminaries with a time of 2 minutes, 15.32 seconds and will be racing in the 800 finals and the mile run today. The running events begin with the mile at 1 p.m.

IPFW's distance medley team of Bearc, Kayla Boyes, Victoria Nida and Julie Jeszensky finished second with a time of 11:26.415 as the event was run a lap short and won by North Dakota State in 11:20.655.
