Pileup closed section of I-469

Icy conditions and whiteouts have made driving treacherous Thursday morning on the north side.

A crash involving as many as five vehicles closed westbound Interstate 469 between Maplecrest and Indiana 37, according to a statement issued at 8:34 a.m. by the Indiana State Police.

The state police said that the area is open and that traffic is being directed to pass slowly in the passing lane.

No serious injuries were reported.
