Police investigate infant's death

Authorities are investigating the death of a 3-month old infant after paramedics were called to a home on Fort Wayne’s west side Wednesday afternoon.

According to a release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, an ambulance was called to the home in the 2800 block of Windrush Drive, near Hillegas and Butler roads, after a report of an unresponsive infant. Paramedics took the baby to a local hospital where the child was pronounced dead by a physician.

The baby’s death is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s office, police said.

The Allen County Coroner’s office will release the baby’s name, as well as the cause and manner of its death.
