Leo wins city hockey title

A first Fort Wayne High School Hockey Association tournament championship didn’t come easily for Leo. But eventually it did come as the Lions held off Carroll 7-5 Wednesday in the city finals at Lutheran Health SportsCenter.

It was the first city tournament championship for the Lions, who also won the 2014 city regular-season title.Homesteadhad won the last four city tourney titles.

“It means everything,” Leo coach Dan Schiebel said of the championship. “We started four years ago as a 1A team and worked our way up and won the 3A championship two years ago, up to winning the league this year.”
