Pedestrian killed on Lima Road ID’d

The 41-year-old pedestrian found fatally injured in the 4900 block of Lima Road on Saturday morning has been identified.

The death of Jennifer A. Kump was ruled accidental and caused by blunt-force trauma due to motor vehicle-pedestrian crash, according to a statement from the Allen County Coroner’s Office Monday afternoon.

She was found unconscious and unresponsive by police about 6:15 a.m. Saturday.

While Fort Wayne police officers attempted to revive her, paramedics and fire personnel who arrived at the scene determined she had died.

Kump was wearing dark clothing at the time and according to police, the driver of the vehicle that struck her had been unable to see her as she walked south in the far west lane of the road, according to police.

Her death was the second fatality as a result of a traffic crash so far this year. The first ruling came this month when the death of 52-year-old Kent Bowman was attributed to a 1986 traffic crash he had been involved in. Bowman was disabled as a result of that crash, according to a release from the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
