It was the kind of game that the Adams Central boys basketball team needed with the postseason starting next week.
For Class A No. 10 Blackhawk Christian, maybe not so much.
The visiting Jets had their way with the Braves offensively and defensively in a 66-50 win Tuesday.
“We weren’t really expecting anything,”AdamsCentral senior Alex Byerly said of the unexpected outcome. “We just wanted to come out here and play hard,” Adams Central senior Alex Byerly said. “They are the best team we are going to play this year. That’s a great win for us going into sectional. It gives us a lot of motivation and momentum for (the postseason).”
Adams Central (11-8) made 12 of 18 on 2-point shots and 10 of 15 on 3-pointers, both (67 percent)shooting.
“We used one extra pass that coach wanted us to use, and that created some wide-open shots,” Byerly said.
Blackhawk (12-9) was 15 of 25 (60 percent) inside the 3-point arc, but only 5 of 20 (25 percent) on 3-pointers.
