State Sen. Jim Banks, R-Columbia City

Navy calls up state senator from Columbia City

Statement as issued Tuesday by Senate President Pro Tem Long, R-Fort Wayne, about state Sen. Jim Banks, R-Columbia City:

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 25, 2014) – "Due to service obligations to the U.S. Navy, Senator Jim Banks will have an excused absence for the time he is away with the Navy, which is tentatively scheduled during the last week of the legislative session.

"We've known since Senator Banks joined the Navy that he could be called at any time to serve his country. We are grateful and proud of his commitment and service. He's taken great care to ensure his bills continue through the legislative process smoothly and that his responsibilities as a state senator are not neglected while he is absent."
