Saturday night shooting accidental, coroner rules

A man shot Saturday night at a Fort Wayne home accidentally died from a gunshot wound to the chest, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Thomas E. Minton, 48, of Fort Wayne died at the scene of the shooting in the 1400 block of Landers Court, the coroner's office said in a statement.

City police have said Minton was selling a handgun to a family member and thought the gun was unloaded.

The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday. It remains under investigation by city police and the coroner's office.
