Ecstasy drug found in suspect’s undies, police say

Travon Demetrius Russell

FORT WAYNE – A suspect accused of not showing up for a court hearing on drug charges was stopped Friday by police, who searched him and reported finding about half an ounce of MDMA, which is commonly called molly or ecstasy, in his underwear.

On Friday, officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department Vice and Narcotics Bureau went out looking for Travon Demetrius Russell, 22, of Fort Wayne, who had three outstanding warrants stemming from a drug raid in the 300 block of West Packard Street in December, in which marijuana and several handguns were seized.

Warrants were filed after Russell failed to appear at his court hearing on charges of maintaining a common nuisance, dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana, the police said in a statement.

While checking out addresses where Russell was known to stay, police spotted him in a van going east on Third Street and stopped it a little after 7 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Superior Street.

A detective reported finding a bag with the off-white crystalline substance in Russell’s underwear that tested positive for MDMA.

Russell was given an additional charge of possession of a Schedule 1 substance. The police said he was being held without bond.
